Recent high-profile events in New York and Washington, DC garnered support and media coverage for one of the David Lynch Foundation's important initiatives: 'Operation Warrior Wellness', for veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder.
In New York in June, celebrated fashion designer Donna Karan, hip-hop founder Russell Simmons, and filmmaker David Lynch joined forces to launch ''Operation Warrior Wellness NYC'' in front of a standing-room only crowd of 500 at the Urban Zen Foundation.
Donna Karan and David Lynch at Operation Warrior Wellness launch in New York This program, a collaboration between the David Lynch Foundation and Urban Zen, will bring Transcendental Meditation (TM) and integrative therapies to veterans and their families in New York who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
The audience was especially moved and inspired by the personal stories of veterans from each generation—World War II, Vietnam, and Iraq—who had transformed their lives through TM, healing mind and body.
Jerry Yellin, decorated WWII pilot who spoke at Operation Warrior Wellness launch 'Despite differences in age and wartime experiences, these men had two things in common: All suffered terribly from PTSD, and all experienced tremendous relief from TM,' wrote Mr Lynch and renowned psychiatrist and bestselling author Norman E. Rosenthal, M.D. about the event in the Wall Street Journal in July. 'Life became once again peaceful and even joyful for them.' Dr Rosenthal also spoke at the New York launch.
