Serbia is one of a few countries in the world where Ayurveda, the world's oldest system of natural health care, is part of the health care system of the country, on a par with conventional medicine. This began four years ago, inspired in part by the success of Maharishi Ayur-Veda health care programmes in Serbia.
Two years ago the national association for Ayurveda was founded in Serbia, headed by one of the country's top epidemiologists.
Since that time, two courses in Maharishi Ayur-Veda for medical doctors have been held, with more than 20 physicians from Serbia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Slovenia, and Montenegro participating. Blocks 3 and 4 have been translated into Serbian, and courses will be offered in October this year.
A one-day seminar in Maharishi Ayur-Veda for medical doctors has been approved by health officials. Physicians may select this seminar as part of their formal continuing medical education, which is necessary to renew their doctor's license.
More than 130 medical doctors enrolled in the very successful first course, which was held by Dr Walter Molk last month. The lecture was completely filled, and Dr Molk will be repeating the course in November.
