by Global Good News staff writer

27 June 2011
One of the most senior experts in Maharishi Ayur-Veda* natural health care recently described what he considers its five most important principles.
Vaidya Manohar Palakurthi, a leading Ayurvedic physician from India, has been based in the United States for the past 17 years, and has consulted at premiere Maharishi Ayur-Veda health centres including The Raj in Iowa; in Lancaster, Massachusetts; and as a curriculum consultant in the training of health professionals throughout the country in the world's oldest and most comprehensive system of natural medicine.
Vaidya Manohar presented his discussion of main principles of Maharishi Ayur-Veda in terms of the Total Knowledge of Natural Law brought to light from the Vedic literature by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in the knowledge and programmes of his Vedic science and technologies of consciousness.
The first principle, Vaidya Manohar said, is gaining the total potential of the Self, experiencing the magnanimity and dignity of life that is only possible through experience of the Self through Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation Technique and its advanced programmes.
The second principle is Graha Shanti: 'peace with the planets', gained through applying the knowledge of the Maharishi Jyotish and Yagya programmes, in order to 'avert the danger that has not yet come'.
Third is Vastu Shanti, living in a home built according to Maharishi Vastu, Vedic architecture in accord with natural law, to give the experience of peace, balance, and wholeness in mind and body.
The fourth principle is how to experience bliss in the physiology. Through the special technique of Ayurvedic pulse diagnosis, the Vaidya can prescribe the multiple Maharishi Ayur-Veda treatment modalities of diet, digestion, daily and seasonal routines, rejuvenation programmes, herbal preparations, and more—all to bring coherence and balance wherever they may be missing.
Fifth is collective consciousness—creating health for the whole population through large groups practising Maharishi's technologies of consciousness to generate coherence, harmony, and peace in national and world consciousness.
Vaidya Manohar also discussed how to get the most from a Maharishi Ayur-Veda consultation, and unique features of Maharishi Panchakarma Rejuvenation therapy.
Global Good News will feature more of Vaidya Manohar's recent presentation on important principles of Maharishi Ayur-Veda health care.
* Ayurveda is the world's oldest, most comprehensive system of natural medicine. Ayurveda originated in the Vedic civilization of ancient India and is officially recognized by the World Health Organization. Maharishi Ayur-Veda, Maharishi's Vedic Approach to Health, and Maharishi Vedic Medicine represent the modern restoration by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi of the complete and authentic practice of Ayurveda as recorded in the Vedic texts.
