Scientific research has shown the Transcendental Meditation Programme to have positive effects on personality and behaviour.
A meta-analysis showing increased self-actualization is included in Scientific Research on Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation Programme: Collected Papers Volume 6.
Originally published in the Journal of Social Behaviour and Personality in 1991, the meta-analysis examined 42 different independent studies on the Transcendental Meditation Programme and compared these results to previous research on other physical and mental techniques.
Transcendental Meditation was found to be about three times more effective at increasing self-actualization compared to the other procedures, said Dr Michael Dillbeck, an expert on Transcendental Meditation research, who is one of the editors of Collected Papers Volume 5, and the editor of Volume 6. These are 'very significant results—and unique results', he commented.
In the coming days, Global Good News will continue to feature Dr Dillbeck's report highlighting studies from Scientific Research on Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation Programme: Collected Papers Volume 6.
