Distinguished women First Nations leaders will speak at a symposium entitled Pathways to Global Health through Indigenous Knowledge: First Nations as Custodians of Natural Law in Restoring Healthy, Sustainable First Nations Communities—on 3 November, the final day of the 17th annual Canadian Conference on Global Health.*
First Nations Chief for Canada, Marie Frawley-Henry, Chair of the AFN Diabetes Working Group, will give an overview of the symposium.
Kathleen McHugh, Chair of the Association of First Nations Women's Council, will speak on the importance of the Natural Law-based approach, and will give highlights of the conference held earlier this month at Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, Iowa, USA entitled Restoring Balance: The Indigenous Grandmothers' Call to the Women of the World.
Cathryn Mandoka, Health Director for the Association of Iroquois and Allied Indians in Ontario, and Member of the AFN Diabetes Working Group, will discuss benefits of Natural Law-based programmes for health.
The symposium will help open many new doors to bring the programmes of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in the field of health to Canada and the world, symposium organizers said.
