Aromatherapy is becoming more mainstream and gaining increasing acceptance among medical doctors in Switzerland.

One of the leaders of a Maharishi VedAroma course* held earlier this month in Provence, France has helped bring knowledge of aromatherapy to Swiss medical doctors.

She started a school of aromatherapy some years ago in Switzerland, and has taught hundreds of health practitioners, including medical doctors, said Dr Paul Gelderloos, National Director of Holland for the Global Country of World Peace.**

At first many doctors were skeptical, but 'after they started to use aromatherapy they found they could replace more and more allopathic medicine with essential oils,' Dr Gelderloos said, describing one of her talks.

Essential oils have powerful curative properties without harmful side effects, Dr Gelderloos said.

A practitioner of aromatherapy for 20 years, the course leader related 'many practical and astounding stories about what kind of ailments she has been treating', said Gelderloos.

This course leader 'plays such an active role' in her region of Switzerland that 'many physicians are actively using aromatherapy', Dr Gelderloos reported.

In Switzerland, where several years ago the population voted that alternative medicine should be incorporated into allopathic medicine, aromatherapy is becoming more and more mainstream. Aromatherapy recommendations can be picked up from one's local pharmacy, Dr Gelderloos said. Many pharmacies have essential oils available, and in many hospitals aromatherapy is actively used.

In the coming days, Global Good News will feature the continuation of the report by Dr Gelderloos about the VedAroma course.
