One of the Total Knowledge programmes developed by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi is the series of 16-lesson short courses from Maharishi College of Perfect Health, including: Maharishi Yoga; Self-Pulse Reading; Diet, Digestion and Nutrition; and Prevention. The course on Maharishi Yoga was recently held in Wales.
These courses were developed by Maharishi and Maharishi Ayur-Veda Vaidyas (expert Ayurvedic physicians from India) and feature many charts and displays. Participants report very much enjoying the profound knowledge and practical results they gain from taking the various courses.
The courses are designed both for those who are already practising the Transcendental Meditation Programme, and also as an introduction for those who have not yet learnt the practice. They offer a profound way to enjoy Maharishi's knowledge for the creation of ideal health.
Dr Peter Warburton, administrator of the Transcendental Meditation Programme in Great Britain, commented recently that the course on Yoga gives Maharishi's complete understanding about Yoga.
It explains Hatha Yoga or Yoga Asanas (postures), in the context of Ashtanga Yoga, the eight-fold approach to Yoga. Dr Warburton explained Maharishi's principle that all eight approaches should be used at the same time; not just one of them. At the moment in the world there is so much focus on Hatha Yoga, physical postures, but actually all eight approaches are necessary, he said.
He explained that in the course on Yoga, Maharishi said the true meaning of Yoga is to establish union, the union of individual and cosmic awareness. This is the purpose of the different approaches of Ashtanga Yoga—to create enlightenment for the individual.
The course on Maharishi Yoga was recently held in Wales by the director of the Transcendental Meditation Programme in Wales. A participant reported from this course: 'I love my new set of Asanas [learnt during the course]. The knowledge that goes along with it is fantastic. It has a made a difference to every aspect of my life.'
'This course doesn't just teach Hatha Yoga,' Dr Warburton said. 'It gives this very complete context and understanding' for the whole teaching of Yoga.
