Expansion of Maharishi Ayur-Veda spas and Health Centres, research on the benefits of the Transcendental Meditation Programme for cardiovascular disease, and models of Veda in the human physiology are among significant achievements in the field of health this past year.

There have been concrete steps in several countries to establish new spas and Maharishi Ayur-Veda Health Centres, said Dr Rainer Picha, Minister of Health of the Global Country of World Peace, in a recent report highlighting achievements of 2009.*

Please see Part I and Part II of this article.

In the past year 'there was a milestone in research in cardiovascular disease', Dr Picha said.

Robert Schneider, MD and his team of researchers found that the Transcendental Meditation Programme 'added to the standard care of heart disease patients, caused an additional 47% decrease in heart attacks, strokes, and death,' Dr Picha said. 'The findings of this nine-year study were presented at the 2009 prestigious annual meeting of the American Heart Association.'

'The abstract was published in Circulation, which is ranked as the world's most important journal in cardiovascular diseases,' Dr Picha continued.

Dr Picha expressed his view that 'this highest evidence of benefit through Transcendental Meditation will force the medical community all over the world to rethink their guidelines in the management of cardiovascular disease . . . to include Transcendental Meditation as a first-choice prescription for patients suffering from this most important medical disorder worldwide.'

Another accomplishment of the past year is that models of the Vedic physiology** are now in the final stage of production, Dr Picha said. Next month, the first hundred will be delivered to all those who have already ordered.

'Maharishi's goal was—and ours still is—to create a disease-free world,' Dr Picha concluded. 'Under Maharaja Adhiraj Rajaraam's leadership, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's health programmes will certainly continue to blossom to their full value in every corner of the world.'

* Dr Picha's report was given on 13 January 2010 in MERU, Holland, during the continuing global 12 January celebrations, broadcast live via Internet webcast on the Maharishi Channel, Channel 3.

** The models display the historic discovery by Maharaja Adhiraj Raja Raam First Ruler of the Global Country of World Peace, under Maharishi's guidance—that human physiology is the expression of total Natural Law contained in the Veda and the Vedic Literature.
