As long ago as 1988, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi encouraged research into the use of aromatherapy, which is one of the 20 approaches of Maharishi Ayur-Veda, the world's most complete system of natural health care.
Dr Rosie Geelvink is an aromatherapist who took part in this development, researching the properties and application of essential oils, and their use according to traditional medicine throughout the ages.
Dr Geelvink is now training Maharishi Aromatherapy Consultants at Maharishi College of Perfect Health in MERU, Holland. Maharishi Aromatherapy will be offered in Maharishi Ayurveda Clinics and health spas around the world, as a natural treatment with potential benefits for patients with both acute and chronic disorders.
VedAroma essential oils are now produced by an award-winning company in Algeria, which receives plants and flowers supplied by small organic farms worldwide.
The oils are available through Maharishi Ayurveda Products, both in Europe and America, so that they can be enjoyed for use at home. 'What you like best usually gives the best results,' Dr Geelvink said.
