During the Guru Purnima celebrations of the Global Country of World Peace, held in MERU, Holland, in late July, Dr Anand Srivastava, Chairman and Managing Director of Maharishi Ayurveda Products, spoke about the value of Maharishi Ayur-Veda for providing relief and reducing suffering.
Please see Part I of this article, in which Dr Srivastava said that Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's contribution in the field of health was to turn the whole thought process of society around from disease to health—'he switched on the light in a dark room.'
Dr Srivastva pointed out that today there are so many problems in the area of health, 'and so many diseases scientists feel are not curable. . . . I can confidently say that Maharishi Ayur-Veda may not be able to claim the cure, but it certainly can provide relief and reduce suffering.
'Through several years of research in the areas of toxicity, diabetes, etc, they have found that with Maharishi Ayur-Veda the side effects of modern medicines are substantially reduced and Maharishi Ayur-Veda helps to improve life and reduce suffering,' Dr Srivastava said. 'The objective set by Maharishi is so high' that Dr Srivastava invited every person engaged in the field of health to join Maharishi Ayur-Veda: to create a disease free society. 'Our fight is not with anybody or any system, our fight is with disease and suffering, and for that all humanity should be with us,' he said.
Dr Srivastava said he had been speaking with Maharaja Adhiraj Raja Raam, first ruler of the Global Country of World Peace, and a beautiful point came up that Ayurveda is nothing new, or foreign to anybody; Ayurveda is being lived by everybody in their daily life.
'What is Ayurveda? We feel cold, we put on warm clothes; we feel hungry, we eat. Food gets digested and brings life. Warm clothes support life. Following the Laws of Nature is Maharishi Ayur-Veda. We practise this in different degrees,' Dr Srivastava said. 'It could be more by some and less by others, but it is being practised. It is nothing foreign.
'The contribution of Maharishi Ayur-Veda is to bring it to a higher level of being practised, and bring perfect balance in life, as close as possible to perfect balance.'
Global Good News will feature Part III of Dr Srivastava's address, about re-enlivening the intelligence of the body, in the coming days.
