On 21 August 2008 Montgomery Advertiser reported:
The practice of Transcendental Meditation reduces high blood pressure, which lowers the risk for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, and avoids the risk of harmful, drug-induced, negative side-effects.
It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring
fulfilment to the field of health.
The Montgomery Advertiser reported, 'A recent meta-analysis on meditation by the University of Kentucky College of Medicine focused on Transcendental Meditation (TM), a technique introduced in 1958 by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi that is practiced for 20 minutes twice a day while sitting with one's eyes closed . . . .'
The Montgomery Advertiser article reported on this study in context of discussing how meditation can reduce stress, which is acknowledged as an important contributing factor in many diseases.
The study's lead author, Dr James W Anderson, was quoted as saying, 'Adding Transcendental Meditation is about equivalent to adding a second anti-hypertension agent to one's current regimen only safer and less troublesome.'
The study appeared in the March issue of the American Journal of Hypertension.
The article also addressed concerns sometimes raised about possible conflicts between meditation and religious practices.
The article noted that Dr Habiba Shaw, a health educator, 'believes maintaining a balanced mind, body and spirit could actually strengthen one's faith'.
Dr Shaw was quoted as saying, 'Meditation is about developing inner balance and harmony. I tell people, you can be any religion [and practise meditation]. What I'm learning is that we do need God, and when we go to the church, synagogue or temple, we should be able to clean the slate, to come back and start fresh.'
Every day Global Good News documents the rise of a better quality of life dawning in the world and highlights the need for introducing Natural Law based—Total
