by Global Good News staff writer

24 April 2008
Speaking recently on Maharishi Global Family Chat, Dr Robert Schneider, National Director of Health for Invincible America, reported developing interest at Indian hospitals and medical universities in launching studies on Maharishi Ayur-Veda.
Dr Schneider is also Director of the Institute for Natural Medicine and Prevention at Maharishi University of Management, USA.
Having recently returned from a tour of hospitals and medical universities in India, Dr Schneider noted a heightening interest in Maharishi's Vedic Approach to Health in comparison to previous years. 'Although it is the land of the Veda, in recent decades India has expressed little interest in Vedic approaches to health,' commented Dr Schneider. 'Instead, Indian hospitals and medical colleges have been struggling to keep up with developments in modern medicine.' Dr Schneider therefore was surprised at the number of opportunities that spontaneously arose during his trip to India, in the areas of medical research, clinical care, and medical education.
In the area of research, reported Dr Schneider, a major allopathic hospital is preparing to begin a study on five different Maharishi Rasayanas for the reversal of ageing. The studies will involve herbal preparations described in the Vedic Literature for the reversal or slowing of the ageing process. These herbs are meant to act as antioxidants and to balance the endocrine system, as well as other systems that affect ageing. 'Though it involves the most ancient form of medical technology,' said Dr Schneider, 'this will be a randomized double-blind placebo control experiment.'
The hospital staff, Dr Schneider reported, is currently being trained in a research protocol designed by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, Founder of the Global Country of World Peace, with the help of world renowned physicist Raja John Hagelin, Raja of Invincible America. The project, he reported, is scheduled to begin after the completion of several administrative steps.
Reflecting upon this development in India, Dr Schneider noted that it is 'the rise in collective consciousness, as described by Maharishi in his presentations this January, which has led India to return to its medical roots.'
