On 1 April 2007 Common Ground Magazine reported:
A recent study published in the journal Ethnicity and Disease showed that Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation programme is beneficial for those suffering from congestive heart failure.
It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring
fulfilment to the field of health.
The study, conducted at the University of Pennsylvania, involved 24 African Americans with congestive heart failure, half of whom learned Transcendental Meditation.
The article reported that the group 'practicing TM experienced high improvement on walking tests monitoring heart rates and had fewer hospitalizations.'
The article reported that according to cardiologist Dr Cesar Molina, 'TM creates a hypo-metabolic state of restful alertness associated with a drop in blood pressure.'
'And heart failure is the end result of high blood pressure and coronary heart disease,' the article quoted Dr Molina as saying.
