On 13 May 2005 Baltimore Sun reported:
'A new study published recently in the American Journal of Cardiology claims that meditation may actually prolong life....' Author Judy Foremen noted in the Baltimore Sun that although the study on the Transcendental Meditation Programme, published in the American Journal of Cardiology, was small, its finding merited further study.
It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring
fulfilment to the field of health.
The study looked at two previous, randomized, controlled studies published in 1989 and 1995. In the studies, groups of people with elevated blood pressure were given various non-drug methods of reducing their blood pressure. Dr Robert Schneider, director of the Institute for Natural Medicine and Prevention at the Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, Iowa, and a team of researchers looked to the National Center for Health Statistics for death records for the participants of the earlier studies.
'The researchers found the participants were more likely to be alive if they had practised TM in the original studies,' summarized Foreman.
Every day Global Good News documents the rise of a better quality of life dawning in the world and highlights the need for introducing Natural Law based—Total
Knowledge based—programmes to bring the support of Nature to every individual, raise the quality of life of every society, and create a lasting state of world peace.
