Mayor Ed Malloy of Fairfield, Iowa, USA, recently launched a 'Go Green Plan' for the city, which will encourage increased local and organic food production and initiatives for clean energy technologies, among other efforts to reduce carbon emissions while improving quality of life for Fairfield residents.
Fairfield is home to Maharishi University of Management (MUM) and the Invincible America Assembly of Yogic Flyers, both of which have contributed to rising coherence in collective consciousness to enable such forward-thinking efforts in the community.
Mayor Malloy expects great success for this 10-year plan, which he introduced in 2008, in part because Fairfield has a record of successful entrepreneurship, which will enable the swift development and implementation of green technologies and methods.
In 2003, Fairfield was voted the most entrepreneurial city under population 10,000 in the US; since 1980 it has spawned 400 businesses creating over 4,000 new jobs. Mayor Malloy believes this is especially due to large groups of people practising the Transcendental Meditation and Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme within the city, which leads to heightened creativity, including in the realm of business. He commented on the high level of 'creativity and dynamism' in Fairfield, more than what might usually be seen in a small Midwestern town.
Global Good News will feature more of Mayor Malloy's report on Fairfield's Go Green initiative.
