On Thursday, 7 October 2010, the tenth anniversary celebrations of the founding of the Global Country of World Peace began. Throughout the world, leaders and members of the Global Country commemorated the historic ceremonies of 7 October 2000, during which Maharishi Mahesh Yogi inaugurated the Global Country of World Peace, establishing Maharaja Adhiraj Rajaraam as its First Ruler.
In his inaugural address on 7 October 2000, Global Awakening for Perpetual Peace on Earth, Maharishi said,
'Today I feel I am presenting to the world something that is absolutely essential. When the destructive forces have come up, why shouldn't peace-loving people come together and intensify peace to such an extent that these destructive forces will be out in a day? Because there is no time lag when you bring the light—instantly the darkness is over.
'This is the time when the world demands a power of peace in the whole world. The time demands the rise of a peaceful power on earth whose strength will be so globally and concretely realized that all these destructive forces will vanish.'
The tenth anniversary celebrations continue, culminating in a grand global celebration Tuesday, 12 October 2010—the 10th anniversary of the five-day Rajyabhishek coronation ceremonies for Maharaja Adhiraj Rajaraam, which began on 12 October 2000.
At the outset of the tenth anniversary celebrations, Dr Peter Swan, Minister of Communication of the Global Country of World Peace, described the upcoming celebrations, and presented a beautiful series of photos of the coronation ceremonies and the royal procession of Maharaja Adhiraj Rajaraam through the International Capital of the Global Country of World Peace in MERU, Holland, following the ceremonies. The delightful procession included Vedic Pandits, leaders of the Global Country of World Peace, royal bagpipers, elephants, and the festive sounds of marching bands, conches, bells, and Alpine horns—as Maharaja symbolically gave his blessings to the people of every country, all united in the Global Country of World Peace.
Global Good News will also be featuring highlights of Maharaja's address, as well as more about the upcoming 12 October celebration.
