Mr Deepak Baskota, the owner of a large organic tea cooperative in Nepal with over 16,000 farmers, is working to promote organic agriculture throughout this Himalayan nation. Mr Baskota's ultimate goal is to make Nepal the first country in the world to exclusively grow organic food.
A leading Nepalese businessman, Mr Deepak Baskota is a former State Home Minister and is the Executive Chairman of the National Cooperative Federation of Nepal. Mr Baskota is the president of the Himalayan Orthodox Tea Producers Association and chairperson of the Tea Development Alliance. He is also an adviser to the National Cooperative Bank Ltd. In 1994 he was a member of National Parliament for the Panchthar District.
Mr Baskota now devotes his full attention to the Nepal Maharishi Vedic Foundation, promoting the programmes of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the Founder of the Transcendental Meditation Programme and the Global Country of World Peace.
Nepal is a country of ancient Vedic origins. Through his Vedic Science, Maharishi restored in its completeness the total knowledge of Natural Law available in the ancient Vedic Literature, to bring fulfilment to all areas of life.
Mr Baskota is planning an International Conference in Nepal this September on Maharishi Vedic Organic Agriculture. Many distinguished leaders from the Global Country of World Peace will be speaking, including Raja John Konhaus,* Raja (Administrator) of Japan and founder of Maharishi Vedic Organic Agriculture Institute. Also speaking will be Dr John Fagan,** Raja with Global Responsibility for Food Purity and Safety for Healthy Invincibility. Other notable speakers at the conference will include Nepali agricultural leaders.
