Third annual 'Experience the Self' course coming to Maharishi University of Management, June 1-9
Maharishi University of Management - The Review Translate This Article
9 March 2014
Again this year people from around the USA will have the opportunity to come for a course that gives them a taste of the special knowledge and environment offered by Maharishi University of Management (MUM) in Fairfield, Iowa.
According to organizer Adrienne Schoenfeld, people are already signing up for the 'Experience the Self' course—thanks in part to the enthusiastic word-of-mouth promotion by those who have attended the earlier courses.
The course is open to those who practise the Transcendental Meditation® technique and its advanced programs, as well as those who haven't yet learned Transcendental Meditation.
Ms. Schoenfeld said that individuals who learned the Transcendental Meditation technique during the previous courses have now taken the TM-Sidhi® program or are planning to take it this summer. In addition, former participants have enrolled at MUM and at Maharishi School.
New this year will be a leadership camp for those in grades 9-12. Called Student Enlightened Leadership Fellowship (SELF), participants will enjoy the same knowledge about leadership that has been offered as part of MUM's Enlightened Leadership Program begun 18 months ago.
There will also be a program for younger children.
The knowledge programs offered during the Experience the Self course will include Sanskrit, Maharishi YogaSM asanas, Maharishi Self-PulseSM reading, Bhagavad Gita, and Maharishi Ayur-VedaSM cooking.*
Complementing those programs will be a range of recreational activities such as archery and canoeing. And evenings will feature entertainment and presentations by well-known experts.
''People have really enjoyed Experience the Self, and some of those who are coming have attended previous courses,'' Ms. Schoenfeld said. ''Participants come for a variety of reasons—to gain deep rest, to learn the Transcendental Meditation technique. They leave with a strong desire for more knowledge.''
The course has been so successful that a number of other countries now want to offer it, including the U.K. and Canada, Ms. Schoenfeld said.
A number of those who have taken MUM's Enlightened Leadership Program will play major roles in organizing and running Experience the Self.
Last year student Sara Sanders helped manage the guest relations desk and served as the Resident Assistant for the guests staying in the Visitors Center.
''It was a delight to work directly with the participants and to watch their enthusiasm grow throughout the week as their experiences of 'the Self' became more and more meaningful, powerful, and personal,'' Ms. Sanders said.
''There was a visual unwinding and de-stressing that was beautiful to witness. And because of my two jobs on staff, I had the sweet opportunity to hear dozens of stories, comments, and affirmations of what wonderful experiences the participants had.''
