A visit to Mongolia quickly turned into a speaking tour for the group of professors from Maharishi University of Management (MUM) in the USA. In addition to helping conduct a conference at the largest university in Mongolia, Mongolian University of Science and Technology, the MUM delegation spoke at several other schools, colleges, and universities in the country.
Their talks focused mainly on Transcendental Meditation and Consciousness-Based Education.
Dr Bevan Morris, President of Maharishi University of Management, met with a private school of 1,000 students which is well respected for the quality of its education. He discussed the many scientifically-documented benefits of Consciousness-Based Education for students and teachers that have been found in schools around the world.
This school has high levels of academic achievement, but 'still they are looking for more', said Dr Tom Stanley, vice-chair of the MUM Board of Trustees and director of Consciousness-Based programmes in Mongolia.
The school was so interested in Transcendental Meditation and Consciousness-Based Education that they asked Dr Stanley to come back and meet with them again before the trip was over.
He also had the opportunity to meet with the faculty of another school with 300 students, giving a presentation about Transcendental Meditation which was very well received.
Jim Bagnola, of MUM's Management department, an expert in leadership training, met with a large bank in Mongolia, representatives of which had attended the conference at Mongolian University of Science and Technology. Mr Bagnola said he is working with them to develop a leadership training session that will include Transcendental Meditation as a technique to improve leadership skills.
