Dr Ashley Deans, Executive Director of Maharishi School of the Age of Enlightenment in the USA, spoke recently about his experiences presenting Consciousness-Based Education in 2011. Dr Deans also serves as Global Ambassador for Consciousness-Based Education, traveling around the world, inspiring parents, teachers, students, and leaders in education with the vision of a schooling system rooted in consciousness.

'In the last year there's been great progress in presenting Consciousness-Based Education to schools in many countries,' said Dr Deans.

He mentioned specifically successes in Latin America, in India, and with the new Maharishi Free School in the UK.

Dr Deans talked about a tour he undertook of the United States and Canada, 'resulting in hundreds of presentations across the North American continent. . . .

'Highly successful programmes are now underway in both public and private schools in the United States and Canada,' said Dr Deans as he showed a photograph of a diverse group of schoolteachers, including some from a First Nations school in Canada. The photo shows the teachers' happy faces on the third and last day of their course in which they learned the Transcendental Meditation Technique. 'They're absolutely delighted with having started Transcendental Meditation,' he said.

In related news about Consciousness-Based Education in the United States, Dr Deans remarked that enrolment continues to grow at Maharishi University of Management.

He also mentioned the new boarding school programme at Maharishi School in Fairfield, Iowa, which has drawn new students from China and other countries. At Maharishi School, Dr Deans added, 'students participate in an ideal curriculum established by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi which includes alternation of academic programmes with the practice of the Transcendental Meditation Technique.'

He continued, 'Students in grades 9-12 also have the opportunity to participate in the advanced Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme, including Yogic Flying.'

In addition to the tours of North America, Dr Deans participated in informational tours about Consciousness-Based Education in many countries, including Belgium, Montenegro, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, Italy, Cyprus, Turkey, Greece, Jamaica, St Kitts and Nevis, Trinidad and Tobago, Japan, and Korea.

As Dr Deans mentioned each country, he showed a picture of smiling young students and teachers who are participating in Consciousness-Based Education. The pictures include smiling portraits, group shots, classrooms filled with people, packed lecture halls, and silent group meditations.
