New research published on reduction of student stress

The article features a new study published in the Journal of Instructional Psychology, which found that the Transcendental Meditation technique significantly decreased psychological distress in public school students.

The study, conducted with 106 at-risk school students, showed a 36% reduction in overall psychological distress over four months. Significant decreases were also found in trait anxiety and depressive symptoms.

These results of reduced stress in public school students are timely, says lead author Dr. Sanford Nidich, a professor at Maharishi University of Management—given record low levels of high school student emotional health found in a recent national survey by UCLA.
