On 16 October 2011 eMaxHealth.com reported:
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) has issued new guidelines for diagnosis and treatment of attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in younger children and teenagers. Reporting on the new guidelines, a news article highlights 'a recent study published in Mind and Brain, The Journal of Psychiatry [which] reported that Transcendental Meditation improved ADHD symptoms, academic skills, and brain functioning in students ages 11 to 14'.
It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring
fulfilment to the field of education.
The article on eMaxHealth.com links to writer Deborah Mitchell's original report about the Transcendental Meditation study on 28 July 2011, which gives a detailed description of the Transcendental Meditation research.
The earlier article explains that ''Transcendental Meditation is a unique type of meditation in that it 'does not require concentration, controlling the mind or disciplined focus—challenges for anyone with ADHD,' explained Sarina J. Grosswald, EdD, the study's principal investigator and a cognitive learning specialist. She noted that ''the fact that these children are able to do TM, and do it easily, shows us that this technique may be particularly well-suited for children with ADHD.''
The Transcendental Meditation study is also featured in a sidebar on the web page of the current article.
