The article features David George, a Media and Communications major at Maharishi University of Management from Maryland, USA, who served as an infantryman in Iraq with the US Army during the 2003-04 invasions.
After serving in the military for three years, David suffered heavily from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), which made it difficult for him to work or make any plans for the future, including attending college. In spring 2009, he signed up to be in a scientific study researching the effects of the Transcendental Meditation technique on PTSD and found immediate relief from his symptoms.
In December 2009, David participated in a Visitors Weekend at MUM and was so impressed with the university community, he enrolled immediately. He also became a spokesperson for Operation Warrior Wellness, a David Lynch Foundation program helping veterans overcome PTSD.
