Last month Dr David Lynch, the revered film director, gave a presentation about the Transcendental Meditation Programme, creativity, and world peace to 120 leaders in business, the arts, and education in Sweden.
Dr Lynch is also a philanthropist whose foundation generously supports the use of Transcendental Meditation to help at-risk groups around the world.
During the evening, the audience was inspired by videos about the encouraging results of teaching Transcendental Meditation in schools in the United States. Many attendees expressed the desire to learn Transcendental Meditation, and to introduce the programme to others in their fields.
Two members of the indigenous Sami people of Sweden, who attended in their traditional dress, are very interested in introducing Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's programmes to their people, as a means of enlivening Natural Law in the culture.
Each guest at the special event received a copy of Dr Lynch's book, Catching the Big Fish: Meditation, Consciousness and Creativity.
The following day a large press conference was held with Dr Lynch. One national television company wanted to film him with children, so nine local children who practise Transcendental Meditation came to meditate with him. Afterward, a wonderful dialogue developed as Dr Lynch answered the children's questions. 'Dr Lynch is so patient and brings out the best in everyone,' commented an individual who attended the press conference.
