On 10 October 2010 Wallstreet:Online reported:
The Maharishi Institute in South Africa recently won the 'Best Seedling' award as part of Bahrain's global education summit, which was attended by over 500 delegates.
It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring
fulfilment to the field of education.
'The award recognises new educational models that have the potential to improve education outcomes significantly through an innovative, scalable and replicable business model that can work in different countries and regions,' the article explains.
'It is hoped,' the article continues, 'that by recognising these seedlings they may be propelled into the broader public domain so that they receive continued funding and support.'
The article reports that the Maharishi Institute in South Africa 'creates large-scale and economically self-sufficient educational institutions, providing free education and salaries from Grade 11 to MBA level.'*
Schools in Brazil, the United States, and Hong Kong were among finalists with innovative approaches to education.
'Our children need a quality education to give them the skills and knowledge to thrive in a 21st century economy. They need an education that unleashes their creativity', Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan was quoted as saying.
Her Majesty 'has played an integral role in stimulating educational advancement across the Middle East', and she offered her support to the global initiative, the article states.
In closing The Education Project forum, Chief Executive of the [Bahrain] Kingdom's Economic Development Board (EDB) Shaikh Mohammed bin Essa Al Khalifa commented that 'we could not have anticipated the level of interest and support that we have witnessed from around the globe.'
Global Good News comment:
* The Maharishi Institute offers students the myriad benefits of Consciousness-Based Education and practice of the Transcendental Meditation Programme, including expansion of creativity and intelligence.
