Dr Bevan Morris, Prime Minister of the Global Country of World Peace, recently visited Vietnam, where he met with university leaders interested in implementing Consciousness-Based Education, as well as with practitioners of the Transcendental Meditation Programme.

In Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, Dr Morris, along with Dr Dennis Heaton, Dean of Distance Education for Maharishi University of Management (MUM), held a meeting to discuss the future of Maharishi's programmes within the nation. Attending this meeting were the director of the international organization which has been sponsoring Transcendental Meditation Teachers in Vietnam; a practitioner of the technique who has a strong desire to become a Teacher; a leader of the Global Country of World Peace in Malaysia; and Charles Tran, who left Vietnam in 1975 and is now teaching at MUM in Fairfield, Iowa, USA.

'All of these leaders were passionate about furthering Maharishi's programmes within the country,' said Dr Morris, speaking on Maharishi Global Family Chat.* Several of the meeting attendees, added Dr Morris, expressed strong conviction that Transcendental Meditation will soon be implemented in many of the nation's schools.

The other major group Dr Morris and his team are working with in Vietnam are the leaders of a prominent university, with 30,000 students. The president of the university has visited MUM, and he—along with many of the faculty—have learnt Transcendental Meditation. 'He is excited at the prospect of introducing Consciousness-Based Education into the entire institution,' said Dr Morris.

Other staff members at the university who expressed enthusiasm about this prospect were the Director of International Relations, and another high level administrator who practises TM.

The university president also gave Dr Morris and Dr Heaton a tour of his new campus, which is located on the Vietnam coast. Dr Morris commented that the temperature was very pleasant in that area, and there were many good quality condominiums where faculty could eventually live. 'Dr Heaton was excited at the prospect of MUM faculty coming to stay in those condos, and teaching courses at the new university,' added Dr Morris.

Dr Morris and the university president agreed to work together in providing the university students opportunities to learn Transcendental Meditation and to enjoy all the benefits of Consciousness-Based Education.

* Dr Morris's report was featured on the 31 March 2010 Maharishi Global Family Chat, broadcast daily via Internet webcast on the Maharishi Channel, Channel 3. Podcasts of the daily Global Family Chat (audio track) are also now available for automatic download, via an RSS feed.
