A high school in northern Israel which has been utilizing Consciousness-Based Education, including the Transcendental Meditation Technique, has become the first school in Israel to receive a national education award for two consecutive years. The school was ranked third in the nation in 2009, and second in the nation in 2008. It is also the first Muslim school in the Middle East to introduce Transcendental Meditation.
The school's 150 students practise Transcendental Meditation twice daily. Research has shown that the regular practice of Transcendental Meditation improves academic performance, reduces stress, and develops integrated brain functioning.
A leading education official in Israel has requested scientific research on the success of Consciousness-Based Education and Transcendental Meditation in schools, said Raja Kingsley Brooks, Raja (Administrator) of Invincible Israel for the Global Country of World Peace. 'We are providing him with the research of Dr Fred Travis* and other leading scientists at Maharishi University of Management.'**
* Dr Travis is Director of the Center for Brain, Consciousness, and Cognition at Maharishi University of Management in the United States.
** Raja Kingsley's report was featured on the 8 February 2010 Maharishi Global Family Chat, which is broadcast daily via Internet webcast on the Maharishi Channel, Channel 3. Podcasts of the daily Global Family Chat (audio track) are also now available for automatic download, via an RSS feed.
