US national tennis 'Coach of the Year': Maharishi School students most receptive, best in competition

Using Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's programmes for athletic success helps students become most receptive to instruction, and best able to apply it in the heat of competition, said Mr Lawrence Eyre, a faculty member at Maharishi School of the Age of Enlightenment (MSAE) in Fairfield, Iowa, USA. Mr Eyre—recently named 'National High School Tennis Coach of the Year' by the US Professional Tennis Association—was reflecting on his many years coaching tennis at MSAE.

After being honoured by the Mayor of Fairfield, school officials, and alumni athletic champions at a special school assembly, Mr Eyre commented that, among the 15,000 tennis players he's coached over his lifetime, MSAE students have been the most receptive to instruction, both technical and strategic, and best able to apply this instruction in the heat of competition. 'I believe this heightened receptivity and composure is due to their practice of the Transcendental Meditation and Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programmes,' he said.
Both these and other programmes of Maharishi, including the Science of Creative Intelligence and Maharishi Ayur-Veda health care, are incorporated into the curriculum of MSAE, the flagship institution in the US for Consciousness-Based Education at the secondary level.
Mr Eyre went on to describe how he uses aspects of Maharishi Ayur-Veda during matches, in periods between games or sets—for example, using Maharishi Ayur-Veda aroma oils to help address imbalances in players' physiologies that arise due to excess of heat, 'which is very common in a tennis match'.
'Much of tennis depends on how you take advantage of down-time—the lull between sets, games, and points—which constitutes 75 percent of the sport,' he continued. 'Utilizing Maharishi's programmes this way in the match setting, our players are able to consistently surpass the competition.'
Mr Eyre concluded his speech by expressing his joy in coaching tennis to the next generation of athletes, by taking advantage of Maharishi's Vedic Technologies. 'The quality of play in any sport will rise when people draw from a deeper level of intelligence, as takes place with Maharishi's programmes.'
* Dr Eyre's speech was featured on the 10 October 2009 Maharishi Global Family Chat, broadcast daily via Internet webcast on the Maharishi Channel, Channel 3. Podcasts of the daily Global Family Chat (audio track) are also available for automatic download, via an RSS feed.
