Milestone for the world: David Lynch Foundation for Consciousness-Based Education celebrates fourth anniversary

The celebration of the four-year anniversary of the David Lynch Foundation for Consciousness-Based Education and World Peace recently took place at Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, Iowa, USA. Dr Ashley Deans, Global Ambassador for Consciousness-Based Education and Director of Programmes, outlined the extraordinary success of the David Lynch Foundation programmes around the world.

In his address to the celebration, Dr Deans said it was only four years ago that Dr Lynch, a world-renowned filmmaker, came to attend a high school performance at Maharishi School in Iowa. Two hours later he came out vowing to establish the David Lynch Foundation for Consciousness-Based Education and World Peace—because he said that even in Hollywood he had never seen such brilliant acting, such timing, such sense of self. He wanted every child in the world to have a Consciousness-Based Education. He therefore intended to raise US$7 billion to achieve this goal.

Dr Deans said that this has been a life-transforming experience for Dr Lynch and a milestone in the history of the world, because four years ago there were very few schools introducing Consciousness-Based Education and the Transcendental Meditation Programme. Today many schools around the world have already started or are signed up to begin the programme.

Dr Deans slowed slides of an education conference held in Tokyo, Japan, attended by many top educators and government officials. Presentations were also given to similar audiences in Osaka, Hiroshima, and Kyoto, and a result of those meetings the delegation visited many schools around Japan, one of which has 3,200 students.

Dr Deans commented that when this number of students learns the Transcendental Meditation Programme, including Yogic Flying, they would fulfil the required number* of Yogic Flyers for the whole of Asia.

* Invincibility for a country is created when the required number of Yogic Flyers—equal to the square root of one per cent of the population—is practising the Transcendental Meditation and Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme, including Yogic Flying, together in large groups. Through the Maharishi Effect, such a group creates coherence in the national consciousness, the basis of peace for the whole world.
