Offering students ideal Vedic Education throughout India: Address of Dr Girish Chandra Varma

Many thousands of students in India are enjoying ideal Vedic Education.

Continuing his inspiring Guru Purnima Day* address, Dr Girish Varma,** National Director of India for the Global Country of World Peace, described great progress in establishing Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's institutions of learning in India. 'This year we have re-enlivened Maharishi Vedic Vishwa Prashasan Yojana and have designed many attractive training programmes for 2,000 Brahmanand Saraswati Vedic Vidyalayas, Guru-ji [Teachers], and about 100,000 students,' he said.

Dr Varma also discussed Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Maharishi Vedic Vishwavidyalaya [Maharishi Vedic University in India]. There are now 140 campuses and study centres, with 28,000 students in Maharishi Vedic University, he said. 'We hope, soon we will have a much larger number of students, gaining total Vedic Knowledge, and gaining mastery in Maharishi Vedic Vishwa Prashasan—Administration through Natural Law.' Expansion includes offering some of the most popular courses through eight distance education centres.  

This year Maharishi University has received approval to offer 28 new courses. Just before Guru Purnima, the University established three new campuses. 'We are receiving thousands of enquiries and students are enrolling every day,' Dr Varma said. 

'Our other university, Maharishi University of Management and Technology . . . has acquired 55 acres of land,' he continued. Construction of administrative and academic buildings is underway. 'We expect to complete [the] first phase of construction by March 2010.  Meanwhile, six campuses are already offering courses to about 2,000 students,' Dr Varma said.

'All six campuses of Maharishi Institute of Management . . . continue to train and produce enlightened executives and corporate leaders for business and industry of India,' Dr Varma continued. 'This academic session, M.I.M.s have graduated over 500 corporate leaders.'

In addition, this year saw the launch of 30 new campuses of Maharishi Institute of Vedic and Management Sciences. 'These institutes will offer all courses of Maharishi Vedic University and Maharishi University of Management and Technology to students of 30 district towns and about 300 development blocks. We have just released the advertisement and are receiving a very positive response in all these branches,' he concluded.
