On 7 June 2009 EasternEye.eu reported: Transcendental Meditation raises academic achievement and provides a solution to bullying and racism, experts say. It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring fulfilment to the field of education.

The EasterneEye.eu article said that experts 'believe meditation for a few minutes as part of the daily school routine leads to increased creativity and improved intelligence. The ''quiet time'' also has a calming effect on the classroom and playground ambience.'

Dr Fred Travis, Director of the Center for Brain, Consciousness and Cognition at Maharishi University of Management in the United States, recently spoke at Cambridge University and to the Institute of Directors in London.

'Just as we have the inherent ability to walk and slow down our body from a very young age, we all have the ability to slow down our mental activity,' the EasternEye quoted Dr Travis saying. 'Children as young as 10 can be trained in Transcendental Meditation (TM), which is a simple technique that puts us in contact with the source of our intelligence.

'We have found in schools in the US,' Dr Travis continued, 'where TM has been added to the daily routine, students are able to manage their anger much better. It makes it that much easier to tackle the pressures of being a teenager.

'When you feel calm and settled inside despite all the craziness outside, it has a natural positive impact on both teachers and pupils,' Dr Travis said in the article.

Celebrities such as Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr—who learned Transcendental Meditation in 1968—recently participated in a benefit concert in New York City USA, to help give students around the world the opportunity to learn Transcendental Meditation.

EasternEye said that students would practise the Transcendental Meditation Programme for 10 minutes twice a day in school.

Maharishi School in Ormskirk, Lancashire, has been teaching Consciousness-Based Education for the last 23 years; and the possibility of introducing Consciousness-Based Education into state schools is under consideration, EasternEye reported.

The article also included comments about the value of other forms of meditation and yoga, as well as ideas such as increased individual attention for students.

Every day Global Good News documents the rise of a better quality of life dawning in the world and highlights the need for introducing Natural Law based—Total Knowledge based—programmes to bring the support of Nature to every individual, raise the quality of life of every society, and create a lasting state of world peace.
