Dr Richard Peycke, National Director of South Africa for the Global Country of World Peace, gave an updated report on the continuing momentum of Consciousness-Based Education in an area of the country where 150 students had already learned Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's Transcendental Meditation Programme.
Speaking on the Maharishi Global Family Chat he said that an education conference for school principals was recently held on the east coast of South Africa, in a region with 800,000 people of Indian descent.
As a result, twenty-four principals have learned the Transcendental Meditation Technique. Many of them remarked on the benefits they themselves have enjoyed, and also expressed their intention to utilize this knowledge not only to transform local education, but also to transform the whole city.
Four hundred thirty school teachers have also requested to learn Transcendental Meditation.
These schools, along with other proposed initiatives to establish large groups practising Transcendental Meditation and its advanced techniques including Yogic Flying, will create an influence of coherence, harmony, and invincibility for all of South Africa, Dr Peycke said.
Dr Peycke was also pleased to announce that there are now ten new Teachers of Transcendental Meditation in the country, who graduated earlier this month on Victory Day.
