During the Maharishi Global Family Chat on 8 September 2008, Dr Chris Crowell, Minister of Religion and Culture for the Global Country of World Peace, gave a beautiful presentation on the programmes of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, Founder of the Transcendental Meditation Programme and the Global Country of World Peace, bringing fulfilment to every culture and religious tradition around the world.

Referring to Maharishi's lectures on the role of culture, Dr Crowell explained that traditional cultural values are the diverse expressions of Nature's intelligence—Natural Law—which guides life to greater fulfilment. Through the practice of the Transcendental Meditation Technique, one experiences Atma, the Self. This is the state of Pure Consciousness, the Unified Field of Natural Law, which propels the evolution of life. Through this experience, the full potential of human consciousness is developed, reconnecting the individual with the totality of Natural Law, and thereby bringing fulfilment to the ultimate value of cultural traditions.

Dr Crowell gave an overview of native peoples around the world implementing Maharishi's programmes in their communities and schools. This article features the enthusiastic response of traditional communities in North America and the Pacific.

United States
Delegates from a Native American tribe in the Midwestern US recently visited Maharishi University of Management in Iowa, to learn about Maharishi's Consciousness-Based Health Care and Consciousness-Based Education. They will return this autumn with a larger delegation, and are committed to introducing Maharishi's programmes in their community and to other Native American tribes.

Two Native American schools on the East Coast are implementing Consciousness-Based Education programmes.

Canada
The Mi'kmaq First Nation in the New Brunswick area is launching Consciousness-Based Education, with 60 students learning Transcendental Meditation next month. Three additional schools are very interested, which will total about 200 students.

The Wsanec First Nation in the Vancouver area has signed a letter of intent to implement Consciousness-Based Education in a school of 200 students.

New Zealand
A school of 500 students, 95 percent of whom are Maori, will implement Consciousness-Based Education.

Australia
An Aboriginal community school in Australia has a Consciousness-Based Education programme well underway.

Joining Dr Crowell in supporting the Rajas (Administrators of the Global Country of World Peace) who are implementing these projects is Dr Tom Brooks, who brings years of experience as a leader in Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation organization in the United States. Dr Brooks is completing a project for the Global Financial Capital of New York and is now serving as Deputy Minister of the Global Ministry of Religion and Culture for North America.

Global Good News will continue Dr Crowell's report on native communities of Central and South America in the coming days.
