Details of world's most advanced 'sustainable' and 'fortune-creating' building - Part I: Complementary Vedic and 'green' principles

Speaking on a recent Maharishi Global Family Chat, Dr Jon Lipman, Director of Vedic Architecture for the Global Country of World Peace in America, gave details of the plan for the world's most advanced sustainable 'green' and Vedic Vastu building at Maharishi University of Management (M.U.M.) in Fairfield, Iowa, USA.
Dr Lipman also serves as Deputy Minister of Architecture for the world under the guidance of Dr Eike Hartmann, Minister of Global Reconstruction for the Global Country of World Peace. He said, 'In recent decades there has been a growing appreciation that we have a positive or negative impact on our environment. Most buildings use huge amounts of energy to construct and maintain. Sustainable living means our actions are in harmony with the Laws of Nature and will not deteriorate the earth, air, or water.'
The B.S. in Sustainable Living Program, founded by Dr David Fisher, is one of the most popular fields of study at M.U.M. The cross-disciplinary programme prepares students for careers in architecture, engineering, urban design and development, agriculture, and environmental studies.
'Dr Fisher had the vision that the Center in which the courses are taught should completely reflect the principles of both Maharishi Sthapatya Veda architecture—the ancient system of Vastu vidya, building in accord with Natural Law—and the best modern methods of sustainable design,' said Dr Lipman. 'Not only is there no conflict between these two understandings of Natural Law based architecture, but they support each other. Still, this is a great challenge, and will achieve something that has never been achieved before.'
Said Dr Lipman, 'In his first public talk about Vastu and Sthapatya Vedic Architecture, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, Founder of the Global Country of World Peace, said buildings should be powered by the sun, and the interior should have continuous daylight from multiple directions.' All the principles of Maharishi Sthapatya Veda will be incorporated in this new building, including:
- Vastu orientation and floor plan. - All rooms will be day lit, with light bounced into the interior from the monitor of windows extending north and south along the roof. No artificial lights will be needed in any room during the day. This will achieve ideal Vedic conditions and reduce the energy load needed to offset artificial lights. - Thick, 'breathing' walls. - Photovoltaic panels for 'off the grid' energy production. - No electromagnetic radiation. - Constructed without iron or steel. - Constructed with natural, non-toxic materials.
Dr Bevan Morris, Prime Minister of the Global Country of World Peace, and President of Maharishi University of Management, recalled that 'when Maharishi first came out with his Master Plan to Create Heaven on Earth, solar power was one of the key points. Maharishi, in designing a new world, thought of these principles of organic agriculture, solar power, and all these different elements. So it's very fulfilling that the University is making great efforts to bring together all these ingredients.' Dr Morris continued, 'It think it would be a great fulfilment to Maharishi that this is combined with the ultimate sustainable system, which is Vastu construction, and with Yogic Flyers occupying the building. Not only is it in tune with the local Laws of Nature but also in tune with the cosmic Laws of Nature, so the whole population will receive support for fulfilment of all their desires.'
The Sustainable Living Center will be a great achievement in the world, and as a 'fortune-creating' Vastu building, it will enhance the success of the students and the University, Dr Morris said.
Global Good News will continue Dr Lipman's report in the coming days, detailing how the Center will demonstrate principles of sustainable building, qualifying beyond the Platinum level of LEED certification.
