Dr Eckhart Stein, Director of Education for Invincible Germany, a leading quantum physicist and researcher in quantum chromodynamics, reported on a recent Maharishi Global Family Chat about a wave of press articles on the problems of education in Germany, and a conference on Consciousness-Based Education held in response to these articles.
Dr Stein said that following these articles in the press (which were prompted by a major World Health Organization [WHO] study), they plan to hold a day of Total Knowledge in all the cities of Germany, and to establish centres of Total Knowledge in all the 16 states of Germany. Invitations have been sent out to hundreds of schools. In one town they placed an article in the newspaper and held a conference about stress-free schools and Consciousness-Based Education.
One of the teachers who spoke at this conference is also a long-time Teacher of Transcendental Meditation. 'I am a normal teacher teaching at normal schools,' she said, 'but I'm also a Teacher of Transcendental Meditation. I have learnt from Maharishi how to give out Total Knowledge, and I want to implement Total Knowledge in all the schools in Germany.' This made a great impression on the audience, Dr Stein said.
Another speaker was a young girl from Maharishi School in Vlodrop in the Netherlands. 'It's quite unusual that a girl of 13 or 14 years gets up in front of an audience, and without any notes, talks about the benefits of education and that she wants that in all schools in Germany,' said Dr Stein.
The daughter of a Teacher of Transcendental Meditation spoke, and another teacher gave a presentation on Consciousness-Based Education being introduced all over the world—in Holland, the United States, and in many countries of Latin America.
As a result one teacher in the audience, who was sent by a school director to get all the information, was delighted and wants to learn Transcendental Meditation.
One professor of education called and said that he had heard [about the conference] too late but wanted to know everything about the course and the ability 'to know everything, do everything, and to accomplish everything.'
The director of a small school of about 100 pupils said she would like to introduce Consciousness-Based Education in her school. She was not at this conference but had heard of it before, and wanted 'to have the whole thing' in her school: the principles of Creative Intelligence, Yoga Asanas**, and self-pulse reading***—everything that develops the whole student. 'This is what I want to have,' she said, 'I want to have the whole thing.'
This school director was thinking not only about education for the individual, but also about creating invincibility for the nation.
** Yoga asanas: Simple Maharishi Yoga postures and breathing exercises to enhance physiological balance and mind-body coordination.
*** Self-pulse reading: A simple Maharishi Ayur-Veda technique for detecting balance and imbalance in the body through 'reading' one's own pulse.
