Donovan 'bringing university to Waterfront'
Edinburgh Evening News Translate This Article
22 February 2008
On 22 February 2008 Edinburgh Evening News reported:
After narrowing down three potential sites, legendary folk singer Donovan plans to build his name-sake university, the Invincible Donovan University, on Edinburgh's Waterfront. The expected student body of 1,000 will help create world peace while rising in higher states of consciousness--enlightenment--themselves.
It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring
fulfilment to the field of education.
The idea for the Invincible Donovan University was first proposed by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi over 40 years ago. The £5 million university will offer Consciousness-Based Education, a primary feature of which is the Transcendental Meditation Programme, to enhance the learning process and academic success in the conventional courses offered and also the students' wellbeing.
The Edinburgh Evening News quoted Donovan as saying, 'I am coming to Scotland later this month to continue the Invincible Donovan University that I will build in Scotland. It looks like it is in Edinburgh.'
He stated that the area along the Waterside 'is very positive towards the university'.
World-renowned filmmaker David Lynch, whose Foundation has made Consciousness-Based Education available to students around the globe, will serve on the university's board of directors.
