On 18 December 2007 The Hays Daily News reported:
Maharishi Central University is currently under construction at Smith Center, Kansas, considered to be the centre of the continental United States. The town will also house the US Peace Government, which is part of the Global Country of World Peace established by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.
It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring
fulfilment to the field of education.
Allen Reminick, project manager for Maharishi Central University—an affiliate of Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, Iowa—says the university's location is to be named U.S. Center City.
Reminick said the university, to start in September, would be a four-year academic institution that, after receiving accreditation, would offer degrees up to the doctoral level and focus on 'consciousness-based education'.
The students would also practise Transcendental Meditation in twice daily group programmes, which, according to Reminick, enhances the ability to learn, and is the only scientifically proven meditation technique.
Besides a full academic programme, Maharishi Central University would also offer athletics, such as football and soccer.
The Hays Daily News reported, 'There will be 50 campuses at the university, each one representing individual states. And each campus will have 10 buildings, seven of them dormitories. Each campus ... will be capable of handling 200 students.'
The article explained, 'Simple math would suggest the campus ultimately could have as many as 10,000 students—more than double the number of on-campus students at Fort Hays State University. Other sources, however, suggest the number could be either 30,000 or 40,000.'
The campus is being built according to a specific type of architecture called Sthapatya Veda where all the buildings face due east.
Reminick explained, 'The idea is to get the sunrise, (which) has a nourishing effect on the people in the house.' In addition, the buildings will be 'green buildings, environmentally friendly', which will create a healthy environment for the faculty, staff, and students.
Eventually, organic farming practices will be part of the development.
Every day Global Good News documents the rise of a better quality of life dawning in the world and highlights the need for introducing Natural Law based—Total
Knowledge based—programmes to bring the support of Nature to every individual, raise the quality of life of every society, and create a lasting state of world peace.
