New Zealand educators inspired by research on the Transcendental Meditation programme

Continuing his worldwide tour to present Consciousness-Based Education, Dr Ashley Deans, Director of Maharishi School of the Age of Enlightenment in Fairfield, Iowa, USA, recently visited major cities in New Zealand. Everywhere he goes, Dr Deans speaks on the uniqueness of this approach which brings to light the missing element at the basis of education—the field of Pure Consciousness—to awaken the total functioning of the brain, thereby enabling every student to unfold his full creative potential.

In Wellington and Christchurch, Dr Deans met with leading educators who responded enthusiastically to the possibility of developing enlightened education. In Auckland he met with local Maori tribe leaders, who had previously expressed lively interest in Consciousness-Based Education. Students attending seminars at teacher training colleges were especially inspired to learn that the anxiety and nervousness typically experienced by new student teachers could be greatly relieved by practising the Transcendental Meditation Technique, which is central to Consciousness-Based Education.

Tour organizers describe Dr Deans' visit as a great success, and endeavours will continue to implement the programme in schools around the country.
