by Mike Blank

21 September 2005
On 21 September 2005 The South End reported:
Acclaimed film director David Lynch will visit Detroit to speak about the David Lynch Foundation for Consciousness-Based Education and World Peace, a foundation created to help offer the mental and physical benefits of the Transcendental Meditation Programme (TM) to students around the world.
It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring
fulfilment to the field of education.
According to Lynch, TM is 'an ingredient missing from education' and he wants to encourage students to adopt the technique to improve academic performance and creativity.
The article quoted clinical neuropsychologist William R. Stixrud as saying, 'Students who meditate can achieve a state of relaxed alertness which allows them to complete assignments with more ease.'
The article also quoted from an interview with Lynch in The Chronicle of Higher Education, in which he said that meditating is a 'dive into pure creativity' that has encouraged his artistic growth and it is a doorway to the source of 'love, consciousness, creativity, and power'.
Lynch told reporter Mike Blank that today's students function in a pressure-packed arena which ends up creating fatigue. He said that unlike prescription medications that relieve only the symptoms, meditation can be an antidote to the actual source of the problem.
The David Lynch Foundation for Consciousness-Based Education and World Peace hopes to raise $7 billion to allow the training in the Trancendental Meditation Programme for anyone who is interested in the practice.
Every day Global Good News documents the rise of a better quality of life dawning in the world and highlights the need for introducing Natural Law based—Total
Knowledge based—programmes to bring the support of Nature to every individual, raise the quality of life of every society, and create a lasting state of world peace.
