19 September 2005
On 19 September 2005 Maharishi University of Management Review reported:
Maharishi University of Management faculty Jane Schmidt-Wilk has been appointed co-editor of the Journal of Management Education. The journal covers research and analysis on teaching management and organizational behaviour and serves as a forum for the improvement of management education in classroom and corporate settings.
It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring
fulfilment to the field of education.
At the Journal of Management Education Dr. Schmidt-Wilk is now co-editor with Susan Herman, a professor of management at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. 'I am absolutely thrilled,' she said. 'It's a big responsibility to be entrusted with, and I feel very honoured that I've been trusted to do this and to work more closely with such an accomplished educator as Dr Herman.'
The journal is a product of the Organizational Behavior Teaching Society and published by SAGE Publications, a leading international publisher in scholarly and professional journals. It covers research and analysis on teaching management and organizational behaviour and serves as a forum for the improvement of management education in classroom and corporate settings.
Dr Schmidt-Wilk has been on the journal's editorial board since early 2003 and volunteered for the co-editor position when an interim vacancy arose for a one-year term. She has also published in the journal. 'The appointment has drawn congratulatory comments from many different people within the Organizational Behavior Teaching Society,' Dr Schmidt-Wilk said. Her role will be to select manuscripts for publication recommended by scholarly reviewers from across the United States.
Dr. Schmidt-Wilk also represented the journal during the summer at the Academy of Management. Additionally, she has been working on streamlining the manuscript submission and review process by helping set up a Web-based system so that even manuscript tracking can be done online. 'Authors will be able to track a manuscript and check where it is in the review and selection process,' Dr. Schmidt-Wilk said.
Dr. Schmidt-Wilk has been working with many authors and reviewers, and they have been very appreciative of both co-editors' work. 'I've made a lot of friends over the last few years, and I believe this appointment will add to the increasing recognition of the University (M.U.M.) in the fields of management and organizational behaviour,' Dr Schmidt-Wilk said.
