On 29 August 2005 KTVO-TV Kirksville reported:
Hundreds of Iowans flocked to Maharishi Vedic City's First Annual Festival of Healthy, Organic, and Enlightened Living. The event was designed to introduce the public to Maharishi Vedic Science, and included tours of Vedic homes, lectures, and a tour of the Vedic Observatory.
It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring
fulfilment to the field of education.
The article quoted Kent Boyum, Vedic City Economic Development Director, as saying 'It's our first year for the festival... We've had people from all over the state of Iowa as well as some yesterday from as far away as New York state came for the festival.'
Boyum went on to explain that all of the buildings in Maharishi Vedic City were built according to the principles of Maharishi Vedic Architecture and use only non-toxic materials.
The reporter also noted that, while not a requirement of the city, residents all practise the Transcendental Meditation Programme (TM). Boyum pointed out that over the last twenty years the National Institutes of Health have funded a number of studies on TM that verify the benefits of the practice.
'All this research together shows TM slows the ageing process and prevents chronic diseases associated with ageing, prolongs life span, and quality of life,' said Dr Robert Schneider.
Every day Global Good News documents the rise of a better quality of life dawning in the world and highlights the need for introducing Natural Law based—Total
Knowledge based—programmes to bring the support of Nature to every individual, raise the quality of life of every society, and create a lasting state of world peace.
