A press conference on the Transcendental Meditation program in education organized by Maharishi University of Management's media team and held in New York City earlier this month is resulting in major coverage, with more expected.
NBC, CBS, CNN, FOX, BET, The New Yorker, People Magazine, Business Week, and a number of newspapers covered the event.
Already there have been excellent reports by network affiliates in Chicago and Salt Lake City. And a very positive article appeared in March 22 issue of The New Yorker as the second item in the 'Talk of the Town' section. It highlighted Maharishi School students who presented at the press conference, describing Ben Pollack as 'a preternaturally self-possessed eleventh grader.'
'The New Yorker is one of the most important magazines in this country,' said media team member Mario Orsatti. 'It reaches many of the most open-minded, progressive, and influential readers in the country. Their positive article is especially significant because Maharishi says that the press mirrors the collective consciousness, and this story indicates increasing openness to our knowledge by the most important segments of American society.'
Many of the news reports won't appear until April because they focus on new research by Maharishi University of Management Ph.D. graduate Vernon Barnes to be published April 2 in the American Journal of Hypertension.
