The first Maharishi Peace Palace to be built in Europe, inaugurated in October 2012 in Germany, has already hosted many courses and lectures.

A Peace Palace is a centre that offers knowledge and practical programmes to promote peace, prosperity, perfect health, and enlightenment for individuals, the community, and the nation, based on technologies of consciousness brought to light by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, founder of the Transcendental Meditation programme.

The Maharishi Peace Palace is located in Erfurt, Germany, near the geographical centre of the country.

Dr Eckart Stein, director of the Peace Palace and one of the project leaders for its development and construction, talked about the building's progress since it officially opened last year.

He said that many courses are already running in the Peace Palace, including those focused on Transcendental Meditation, the advanced Transcendental Meditation Sidhi programme, human physiology as the expression of Veda and the Vedic literature, Maharishi Ayur-Veda pulse reading for good health, and Ayurvedic cooking.

Two upcoming events at the Peace Palace include a course on Maharishi Vedic Organic Agriculture and organic gardening in the light of Maharishi Vedic Science, and a concert of Maharishi Gandharva Veda, classical Indian music, featuring renowned expert musicians playing the sitar and tabla.

The Maharishi Peace Palace, with its location in central Germany, has experienced a long winter. As such, the garden and landscaping of the building are not yet finished.

Dr Stein explained that this is the next project at the centre and he hopes the upcoming course on Maharishi Vedic Organic Agriculture and gardening will help provide the Peace Palace with beautiful gardens and landscaping. Gardens contribute to the beneficial effects of a building designed according to
Maharishi Vastu architecture, as is the new Maharishi Peace Palace.

Another reason a beautiful garden is important is that Erfurt is a garden city.

Dr Stein explained that the city has a big garden exhibition—the largest in eastern Germany. 'They already talked to us because they like the Peace Palace, they like the architecture of the Peace Palace.'

He concluded, 'We are looking forward to being part of the next national gardening exhibition, and taking part in this exhibition as a Vedic garden.'
