The video archive of the MERU Concert 2012 is now online for people around the world to enjoy. The live concert was performed 8 January at the famed TheaterHotel de Oranjerie in Roermond, Netherlands, and featured beautiful performances by virtuosos of Indian classical music and dance:
Lenneke van Staalen: Lenneke is a virtuoso in Indian classical music on violin. She is renowned for her lyrical music in masterful performances that warm every heart in the audience.
In the 8 January concert she was accompanied on tabla by Heiko Dijker. His playing is marked by the depth of his knowledge and mastery over rhythmic poetry of percussions.
Also accompanying was Lenneke's father, Marien van Staalen, on cello, bringing the beauty of the western classical music in harmony with the warm sounds of Indian classical music. He is the principal cellist of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and a renowned Dutch conductor.
This show also featured Anurekha Ghosh, a BBC award-winning Indian classical dancer, choreographer and educator known for enthralling audiences all over the world with her spectacular Kathak dance performances, full of grace and exceptional skills. She was accompanied by other Kathak dancers.
Those who attended the live concert or watched the live global webcast experienced music that is described as 'filling listeners with inner peace, harmony and bliss—music and dance that promises to truly unite one with the eternal harmony in nature'.
