28 October 2010
On 3, 4, and 5 November, the Global Country of World Peace will celebrate the traditional Vedic Festival of Lights. Through special Vedic recitations performed by Maharishi Vedic Pandits in India and in Holland, these days honour and enliven specific qualities in individual and collective consciousness: balance and perfect health; Nature's infinite organizing power and perfect administration to create an ideal society; and abundance and affluence to create wealth and fulfilment for the individual and society.
To celebrate the Festival, an Assembly for Teachers and practitioners of the Transcendental Meditation Technique and the Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme will be held from 3 to 7 November at the Maharishi Capital of World Peace in MERU, Holland. Highlights of the Assembly include:
3 November—Day of Dhanvantari: Celebrating the emergence of Ayur-Veda The first day of the celebration honours Dhanvantari, the embodiment of Ayur-Veda, the eternal science of life. Ayur-Veda is the world's oldest and most comprehensive system of natural medicine, which originated in the Vedic civilization of ancient India, and is officially recognized by the World Health Organization. On this day in the Vedic calendar, the tradition of the complete knowledge of Ayur-Veda is revived and enlivened in human awareness through specific recitation by Maharishi's Vedic Pandits in India—offering the opportunity to imbibe in one's consciousness the elements of perfect balance, perfect health, and immortality, to help create a disease-free society.
4 November—Day of Hanuman: Celebrating and enlivening Nature's infinite organizing power and perfect administration The second day enlivens the infinite organizing power of Natural Law and perfect administration, helping to maintain the flow of evolution in an uninterrupted way and remove obstacles on the way to enlightenment—thus promoting Natural Law based administration, Raam Raj, and a society free from problems and suffering.
5 November—Day of Mahalakshmi (Deepavali): Celebrating and enlivening the qualities of abundance, affluence, and fulfilment in individual and collective consciousness The third day, the highlight of the three celebration days, known as Deepavali or the day of Mahalakshmi, enlivens the qualities of fullness, abundance, affluence, and fulfilment inherent in Natural Law.
The Sanskrit word Mahalakshmi means 'great wealth'. Mahalakshmi is that impulse of creative intelligence in Nature which is responsible for prosperity, growth, and affluence in life. The day of Mahalakshmi is considered the most important day in the Vedic calendar. On this auspicious day, the specific values of creative intelligence in Nature that bestow wealth, eliminate poverty, and remove obstacles and weaknesses are enlivened in individual and collective consciousness.
As a highlight of the five-day Assembly in MERU, video replays of historic addresses by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi on the specific themes of each day will be shown.
Those practising the Transcendental Meditation Technique and the Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme are invited to come and enjoy this grand celebration. Participants will also enjoy daily group practice of their meditation programme.
