A Maharishi Gandharva Veda flute and tabla course will be offered in Seelisberg, Switzerland, from 20 to 27 August. Students will learn about the instruments and how to play them, and will also see unique tapes of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi speaking about Gandharva Veda music.

The course will be taught by Binay Krishna Baral, flute, and Kartick Bhowmick, tabla.

Students will learn different Alankaras, embellishments; one Raga with introduction, Alap; composition; rhythmic improvisation; and different cycles of rhythm.

At the end of the course the students will perform together in the Grand Assembly Hall of the International Capital of Heaven on Earth in Seelisberg, where Maharishi lived and worked for more than a decade.

Gandharva Veda musician Binay Krishna has been teaching for many years, including at
Maharishi University of Management in the United States. He received Maharishi Awards at the university in 2004 and 2006.

In the late 1980s Binay performed in concert for Maharishi Festivals of Music for World Peace* in many countries in Europe, including Scandinavia, and also in Israel. He played in concerts and gave many workshop, and also gave many television and press interviews during these tours.

Binay's fine level of performance of the Ragas, traditional melodies, and his ability to capture all the subtleties of the Swaras, or notes, has won him acclaim from audiences everywhere. Audio recordings by him are used on the Maharishi Channel.

* Maharishi's Festivals of Music for World Peace: In 1986, Maharishi inaugurated his Program to Create World Peace, introducing the theme of creating balance in Nature and peace in the world through the performance of Gandharva Veda music. Since then Gandharva Veda musicians have been performing in concerts around the year, around the world.
