A wave of bliss is swelling since the announcement of a concert by the legendary music group the Beach Boys, to be held on 7 September (Labor Day in the United States) in Fairfield, Iowa, USA.

The concert, billed as the Grand Finale of their Endless Summer Tour, is co-sponsored by the David Lynch Foundation for Consciousness-Based Education and World Peace. It is a continuation of the successful benefit concert series raising funds to teach the Transcendental Meditation Technique to at-risk youth in the US and around the world. See previous article.

Riding the wave of media interest generated by the concert, Fairfield's mayor, Ed Malloy, has announced plans to name Mike Love—the Beach Boys' lead singer and founding member—as 'Energy Czar for the Day', bringing attention to the town's initiative to be America's greenest small town.

Fairfield is home to Maharishi University of Management (M.U.M.) and the Invincible America Assembly, dedicated to creating coherence and positivity in the collective consciousness of the nation. Green energy and building methods are integral to the community's focus on living in harmony with Natural Law. (M.U.M. offers the first Sustainable Living degree programme in the nation.)

Earlier this year, Mayor Malloy was named by MSN.com as one of the 14 'greenest' mayors nationwide.

Mayor Malloy intends to make Fairfield known as a model of 'outer sustainability and inner sustainability,' said Dr Mario Orsatti, National Director of Communication for Invincible America. Developing the full value of human consciousness through Transcendental Meditation 'is what it really means to be in tune with Nature, to be part of Nature, and to enliven all aspects of Natural Law'.

Befitting the theme, Dr Orsatti says the Beach Boys concert will be 'as green as possible, using sustainable energy sources'.
