Transcendental Meditation improves health, nourishes ancient culture of American Indians
by Global Good News staff writer

The practice of Transcendental Meditation has a 'phenomenal effect' on serious health problems suffered by American Indians, said Dr Robert Roth, Vice President of the David Lynch Foundation for Consciousness Based Education and World Peace, earlier this month.
Dr Roth, who is also Director of Expansion for the Global Country of World Peace in the United States, also said that the cultural and spiritual tradition of American Indians includes meditation, transcendence,* and other elements found in the ancient Vedic Tradition of knowledge.
The David Lynch Foundation is supporting initiatives to help American Indian communities, in addition to its successful programmes in schools around the US and the world. Dr Roth's comments were made during an address at the Foundation's four-year anniversary celebration.
Please see another recent Global Good News article on this topic: 'American Indian Initiative in the United States: Centre of a renaissance of the culture'.
Dr Roth said that ancient American Indian traditions include practice of technologies similar to Maharishi's Vedic Technologies of Consciousness, including the Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme, Yagyas,** and recitation of special sounds to help plants grow.
In light of this, and noting serious health problems currently suffered by American Indians (and by indigenous peoples in many parts of the world), Dr Roth highlighted the 'phenomenal effect' of Transcendental Meditation on their health—for example in treating diabetes—as well as in reducing substance abuse and the school suspension and dropout rate.
He also related comments by Mr Prosper Waukon, Director of the David Lynch Foundation's American Indian Initiative, about the knowledge and programmes of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, which originate in the Vedic Tradition of knowledge in India. 'Truth is truth, whether it comes from ten miles away or ten thousand miles away. It's the Creator's earth and truth is truth,' said Mr Waukon.
Global Good News will feature more of Dr Roth's address in the coming days.
* Transcendence: Experience of the silent, unbounded field of pure, Transcendental Consciousness at the basis of all the mind's activity. Regular practice of the Transcendental Meditation technique allows the direct experience of Transcendental Consciousness in a systematic, reliable, repeatable way.
** Yagyas are ancient, precise performances by specially trained Maharishi Vedic Pandits of India, which create specific life-supporting influences from the field of pure consciousness, the field of total Natural Law.
