Legendary singer/songwriter Donovan recently concluded a month-long tour of major cities in the U.S., during which he performed and described the influence that the practice of the Transcendental Meditation technique has had on his music and his life.

Part of his goal on the tour was to help promote awareness of Maharishi's Consciousness-Based Education among today's youth. Since coming to the Maharishi University of Management for the David Lynch Weekend in March, where he and his wife Linda received a Maharishi Award for Global Harmony and World Peace, he has been working closely with award-winning filmmaker David Lynch and his David Lynch Foundation to educate young people in schools about the benefits of the Transcendental Meditation technique.

'Donovan inspired me and millions of others of my generation to 'dive within' and find real happiness in the ocean of creativity and intelligence that lies within everyone,' Mr. Lynch said. 'My Foundation is honored to have Donovan's support for our efforts to bring meditation to kids around the country.'

According to Steven Yellin, Maharishi University of Management public affairs officer, Donovan's concerts and his sincere desire to continue to live the message of diving within has struck a chord with the media, and he has received scores of requests for interviews.

The tour also coincides with the forthcoming release of his autobiography in paperback.

'I realized when I went through my material for my autobiography that the real flower of the '60s, the real juice, the real development that we discovered and the real rediscovery of ancient knowledge that we brought forth was meditation to the West,' said Donovan in an interview published during his tour in the Morris County Daily Record.

And in the Springfield, Massachusetts newspaper, The Republican: 'When I look at the 1960s, I find the real tool for change was Transcendental Meditation,' he said. 'That's why David Lynch and I are promoting Transcendental Meditation in schools. So many young people are stressed out or suffering from attention disorders and meditation can help. I wanted to do something to help them.'
