16 October 2004
On 16 October 2004 Omaha World-Herald reported:
The community of Maharishi Vedic City, Iowa is unique in that all of the homes and buildings are designed according to the principles of Maharishi Vedic Architecture.
It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring
fulfilment to the field of culture.
Maharishi Vedic City is located just miles from Maharishi University of Management, situated in Fairfield, Iowa, on the campus of what was once Parson's College. Founded in 2001, Maharishi Vedic City is the sight of a quickly expanding community.
The homes in the city are all built along the guidelines brought out by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the founder of the Transcendental Meditation Program, according to the principles of the ancient science of Vedic Architecture.
According to the article some elements of Vedic Architecture include: proportion, room placement (each room has an ideal location), a room for meditation, an eastern front entrance, and the Brahmastan - the silent center of the home.
The article mentioned that Vedic Architecture also leaves plenty of room for creativity. Homes in Maharishi Vedic City incorporate many different styles - from houses modeled after Frank Lloyd Wright designs to log cabin homes. Many families are trying to implement solar energy and other environmentally-friendly building techniques.
The overall theme is a sense of cleanliness, order, and peace. Individuals living in Maharishi Vedic City believe the construction of the buildings they live in has an effect on their health and general well-being.
Every day Global Good News documents the rise of a better quality of life dawning in the world and highlights the need for introducing Natural Law based—Total
Knowledge based—programmes to bring the support of Nature to every individual, raise the quality of life of every society, and create a lasting state of world peace.
